When I set out to start a social media marketing company, back in 2013, I wanted to work with small businesses, budding entrepreneurs, and solopreneurs, to help them build and manage a killer social media presence. What I didn’t anticipate was the amount of education and coaching that would be required throughout that process.

Any good social media manager will work closely with their clients to understand who they are and what message they’d like to convey, through social media, to their audience. In marketing terms, this is what we call a “brand voice.” And in order to discover that voice, there has to be a level of inherent knowledge about how your presence on social media can impact your brand’s reputation – negatively or positively.

It was the process of walking my clients through this discovery phase that made me realize just how little, many business owners actually know about social media marketing, or digital marketing as a whole. I don’t say that to sound condescending; social media marketing isn’t rocket science… BUT there is an endless amount of knowledge, tips, tricks, and recommendations for how to be successful on social media, and if it’s not a world you live in on a daily basis, it’s easy to get left behind. My goal during the discovery phase, with my clients, was to open their eyes to that world and show them all the great things social media marketing could do for their business.

Beyond helping them discover their “brand voice” and setting up some pretty awesome social media accounts, I would also help them craft posts, schedule the posts, and respond to comments on their social media accounts (AKA ongoing social media management). This is where the disconnect always occurred for me. I quickly realized that it was almost impossible for me to keep up with multiple social media accounts, for multiple clients, and still work full time, eat, sleep and have a social life. It was all becoming too much, something had to give, and eventually I shut down Socialography and focused my energy on a start-up marketing agency I worked with for a few years.

During the years that followed, Socialography, and the business of helping entrepreneurs with their social media and digital marketing, always lingered in the back of my mind as a “some day.” I knew I wanted to help more people discover the world of social media marketing, but I didn’t know how to do that on a client by client basis, and still work a full-time job… until now!

Social Media + Choreography = Socialography

In 2019, Socialography was RE-founded with a fresh new goal in mind – to help as many people as possible, really anyone with a business idea, to choreograph an online presence that would help their brand ✨SHINE.✨ I truly believe that if you have a business idea, no matter what it is, it deserves a shot to step into the spotlight. And in this digital age, there’s no reason your message can’t be seen and heard by your audience. The hard part is finding that audience and delivering a message that will resonate with them. So, through the Socialography Blog and Resource Library, I will be sharing the knowledge and skills I have acquired during my 10+ years in the sales and marketing world, and walking you through the process of developing an online presence that will elevate your brand into stardom!

Although I will no longer be providing ongoing management services on a client by client basis, I will be providing content that you can use to build a digital marketing presence on your own. Why do I think this model will work? Because one of the things I have learned during my years in marketing is that there is no one better qualified to promote your brand than YOU. Let me repeat that – there is NO ONE better qualified to promote your brand than YOU! Does that mean marketing companies are completely useless? No!

What that means is, there’s no one who knows the ins and outs of your brand like you.

There’s no one who has the passion for your idea like you.

There’s no one who understands what your business has to offer, and why someone would want it like you.

And there’s no one who can connect with and understand your audience like you. And when building a social media or online presence, there is nothing more valuable to your audience, than YOU.

We’ll talk a lot more about this in future posts, but what I want you to start believing ~ truly believing ~ is that there is no one better qualified to promote your brand than you.

You’re the dancer. I’m the choreographer. The world is your stage. Let’s dance! 💃

Hey guys! 2020 Angela here, since re-launching Socialography in 2019, a few things have changed. I’ve decided that the best way for me to help the most people is through e-learning, which is why I’m working on an online course, called The 3-Week Business Boost, AND I’ve launched a YouTube channel, where I’ll be sharing some of my favorite marketing “secrets” and walking you through how to implement them in your business.
